National Day Of Remembrance And Action on Violence Against Women

National Day Of Remembrance And Action on Violence Against Women.

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is about remembering those who have experienced gender-based violence and those who we have lost to it.

Today we remember and honour the 14 innocent women who lost their lives over 30 years ago at Polytechnique Montréal (December 6, 1989).

Women’s History Month

Women That Give joins all celebrating Women’s History Month.

Did you know the government of Canada called October the Women’s History Month in 1992?   Women’s History Month includes International Day of the Girl on October 11 and Persons Day on October 18. This month, we celebrate all women and the impact they have had on our country. The courageous women and girls who are pioneers and have made an impact are celebrated in this month of October.

International Day of the Girl is a day that is dedicated to girls around the world in support of freedom from abuse, violence, and equal opportunities for education, health care, etc.
Person’s Day is an important day because in 1929, the definition of “persons” was changed to include women, and this has made a lot of changes for women, such as giving women the right to participate in politics and the right to vote.

Join us, as we remember all the achievements and the impacts women have had in our country as we celebrate gender quality. Thank you to the women, women-led organizations, allies who are shining a light on the achievements of the women through their work and commitments specifically under the current context of the pandemic.
