Job Title:  YOUTH CANADA SUMMER JOB -EMPLOYMENT & YOUTH                 PROGRAMS ASSISTANT

Location: Waterloo, Ontario

Applications are currently being accepted from youth between the ages of 15 – 30 (at the start of employment) for the position of Youth Canada Summer Job – Employment & Youth Programs Assistant. The individual will provide assistance to our Employment Ontario Employment Service team and youth focused programs at our Cambridge site. The position will be 35 hours/week for 16 weeks at $14 per hour, reporting to the Program Manager -Youth, Employment & Family Services, and working under the direction of the Employment Services Team Lead and Youth Services Team Lead(s). The position will begin on Monday, May 13, 2019 and end on Friday, August 30, 2019. Please note this job opening is subject to receiving Service Canada Youth Summer Job funding. Duties will include: • Researching current best practice in the employment sector to meet client needs, with an emphasis on employment supports for youth with multi-barriers. • Assisting in the development of Employment workshops including current research of best practices • Assisting in the facilitation of Employment workshops, with an emphasis on employment workshops for youth with multi-barriers • Acting as a support and mentor to youth with multi-barriers involved in summer employment programs • Supporting the outreach and marketing for employment programs to potential clients, with an emphasis on youth with multi-barriers • Supporting the outreach and marketing for employment programs to potential employers, with an emphasis on youth-friendly employers • Providing support to the Resource room including supporting clients in resume development, job search and linkages to program • Supporting the case management of clients involved in employment programs with an emphasis on youth with multi-barriers involved in summer employment programs Candidates should possess: • Research and analytical skills, ability to follow direction, and meet deadlines • Some marketing and/or sales experience • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills • A strong commitment to customer service • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office ®, internet searches, database systems, and Outlook® • Excellent organizational and planning skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a service delivery team Eligibility Requirements: • Be between the ages of 15 – 30 at the start of the employment • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
