Legal Advisor 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  To provide guidance and advice to the WTG Board of Directors regarding any legal matters that may arise. Duties may include reviewing the wording in contracts and memorandum of agreements; offering recommendations to limit Board risk and liability. Give back to the community by sharing your knowledge and together as a team help rebuild of lives of the marginalized women while supporting the aims and objectives of Women That Give.  

TIME AND PLACE OF WORK : The WTG Legal Advisor will agree to be contacted by the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis, as need for legal guidance arises.

COMMITMENT:  In this role, you will be expected to provide support to the WTG Board of Directors on an ad hoc basis for a minimum of one year. An estimated time of 4-5 hours per quarter would be expected. 

QUALIFICATIONS: A law degree and admission to the bar is preferred; however, advanced-level law students will also be considered. Experience in the Charity sector and non-profits, government and non-governmental organizations would be considered an asset.

Specific Job Description: Act as the advocate for the corporation.  Act as an advisor to the President and other Board members in all legal matters including, but not limited to, contracts. Review and propose updates to the WTG corporate documents as needed. Handle specific legal issues for the Board such as contracts as well as oversee third-party consultants including, but not limited to, outside attorneys, accountants, and others retained by WTG from time to time. Work with Executive Board on special projects such as policies and procedures, fundraising, taxes, etc.
